Deer hunt

(This was Roleplayed between myself and BosleyBoz several months back when Adin first joined the empire. Most of the first half has been lost, and my system is not cooperating, so I will be updating this shortly. My parts of the rp will be under "H-" while BosleyBoz's will be under "B-".)

H-
The grey cat also crouched down to avoid being seen, ears swivelling around. His nose twitched as he tried to pinpoint the deer, and he opened his mouth to amplify his sence of smell. Adin began to stalk forward, letting his shoulders roll with the motion.

"He is about three tree lengths that way." The smaller cat pointed to their left, they were thankfully down wind of the older looking buck, which could be seen as his antlers above some of the undergrowth. "I can drive him here if you like." His words were still in their quiet, hoarce, almost whisper. The snow lynx's pose was that of an eager hunter surpressed carefully under still paws.

B-
Alkaois nodded and crouched down lower and kept quiet.

H-
"Well? Shall I go and flush it out, or will we try something else? How do you usually catch them?" Adin turned to his companion, brow cocked. With his pose still crouched down, it looked odd as he twisted around to see his hunting partner.

Alkaois thought for a second then spoke very quietly. "Go 'round but don't try ta flush him out. Make a small noise that' catches his attention so I can sneak closer to him. Like I said, I am not good with speed so if he races past me he's gone.

H-
"Right." Adin nodded at his hunting partner and slithered off into the undergrowth. It wasn't long before he would have been invisible to the bigger cat, save for his lingering scent. Fighting he was hopeless at, but hunting? He had had four years to perfect his skills as a hunter.

The grey male kept his head down as he moved, keeping low, and only raised his head to catch sight of the deer. Because he could see the creature, he didn't have to keep tabs on it with his ears, so they remained laid back, even when he looked up to see the buck. The snow lynx was especially careful about his white tipped tail, which he held low to keep it out of the way and out of sight. The leaves under his paws made hardly a sound as he stepped lightly around the undergrowth and young trees.

It wasn't long before he was on the other side of the deer, but he was very careful to stay out of the direct wind, which would alert the skittish creature to his presence. The male's eyes were wide as he crouched lower.

The deer had caught a wiff of him. The male deer stood tall and erect, his head high as it shifted its small hooves. It looked upwind, away from where the yellow mountain cat would have been. Adin purposefully crunched a leaf, sounding almost like a mouse the way he did it, and the deer's attention snapped onto the bush he was behind and under.

B-
Alkaois crept closer very very quietly. He hadn't hunted with other cats too often, so he was pretty happy with this opportunity. He saw the deer's attention go to where Adin was. -That sneaky lil' cat. He's brilliant at this!- He crept closer and closer until he was within leaping distance of the deer. Tensing his muscles, he leapt right for its throat, careful not to run into its antlers. He smacked it down to the ground with one of his swipes and lunged for its neck with his teeth and pinned it to the ground.

Adin stayed down and watched the display between hunter and prey. He watched as the deer struggled to free himself from the big cat who herald him down, and waited until its motion wasn't so frantic. The grey cat didn't want to interrupt the bigger cat's concentration, lest the deer somehow manage to get loose of the mountain cat.

 Only when the deer ceased moving at all did the snow lynx come out of the bushes. "I sure would not want to fight you." He commented. "Fro what I have seen, hunting and fighting are not truly all that different. The objective goal may differ, but the motions do not."
